Offset Carbon Emissions
As concern grows about the prospect of global climate change, more and more travelers are searching for ways to build awareness of carbon impact into their travel plans. In particular, the Dave Matthews Band has taken a proactive role in fighting global warming by offsetting the CO2 pollution that touring activities such as transporting gear, powering stages, and air travel generate. Since 1991, the band has offset 100% of their tours carbon dioxide emissions. If youd like to follow their example and offset your own travels, Travelocity now offers a way to help. Travelers now have the option to purchase "carbon offsets" when booking on Travelocity, the first major online travel agency to take this step.
Today, when you book on Travelocity, you can make a contribution to The Conservation Fund's Go Zero SMprogram which will negate the carbon emissions created by your trip by planting a native tree.
Trees planted on protected lands aid in the fight against climate change, promote the restoration of wildlife habitats, improve water and air quality, and enhance outdoor recreation areas, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
You can measure and offset a specific trip, as well as your personal daily carbon footprint, plus learn more about The Conservation Fund and Go ZeroSM here.
